2026-04-17

On April 13, official sources revealed that images of the new AITO M9 have been officially released. The new model will be equipped with six lidars, as well as a new side‑view camera mounted on the rear C‑pillars. It will also feature advanced intelligent recognition capabilities, upgraded powertrains, and modern chassis technologies. The new AITO M9 will continue to be offered in both fully electric and extended‑range versions; the interior will be available in five‑ or six‑seat layouts, and its overall dimensions have been comprehensively increased.

In terms of exterior design, the new vehicle features enlarged dimensions and a refreshed aesthetic, including new color schemes, semi‑concealed door handles, a full‑width light bar, and newly designed alloy wheels. The brand‑new semi‑concealed door handles are expected to be finished in the same “Starlight” style as those on the Zunjie S800 model. These refinements — from paint options and detailed trim to lighting elements and wheel design — are intended to emphasize the vehicle’s sense of luxury and technological advancement. In terms of body dimensions, the car measures 5285 mm in length, 2026 mm in width, 1845 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3125 mm. Compared with the current model, the new car’s dimensions have grown: length by 55 mm, width by 27 mm, height by 45 mm, and wheelbase by 15 mm.

For driver assistance systems, the new AITO M9 will be equipped with six lidars. By fusing data from lidars and cameras, the vehicle provides a 360‑degree field of view with no blind spots, allowing detection of small, low‑lying obstacles, improving detection range and accuracy, and identifying potholes on unpaved roads in advance. This significantly improves environmental perception accuracy, system redundancy and reliability, and adaptability to complex road conditions. Building on these hardware upgrades, the intelligent driving system will officially expand its operating scope to cover off‑road and unpaved road scenarios, marking another step toward universal intelligent driving systems suitable for diverse environments. Notably, the vehicle will also feature additional side cameras mounted on the rear C‑pillars, a design that further enhances the performance of the integrated environmental perception system. With such a major upgrade to its ADAS hardware, expectations are high for the vehicle’s capabilities in L3 and L4 autonomous driving scenarios.

On the chassis side, the new AITO M9 will undergo comprehensive upgrades to both hardware and software. This is expected to include innovations such as active control systems and drive‑by‑wire technologies, delivering more precise dynamic response and improved comfort for both driver and passengers. Furthermore, the model will be the first under the Harmony Intelligent Mobility brand to feature a full active suspension system. This fully active chassis integrates road preview scanning, actively recognizing road conditions to adjust suspension stiffness and damping in real time, alongside an upgraded long‑range high‑precision road detection system. By predicting road conditions ahead, the system can actively control suspension stiffness, damping, and applied active forces, ensuring both driving safety and passenger comfort.

In terms of powertrain, the new vehicle will continue to be offered in both fully electric and extended‑range versions, both equipped with a new generation of CATL batteries. The extended‑range variant will be available with two battery pack options — 60 kWh and 75 kWh — while the fully electric model will feature a 120 kWh battery. According to previously submitted regulatory documents, the extended‑range model retains a dual‑motor configuration: front electric motor output is 220 kW and rear motor 277 kW, representing an improvement over the current model. The 1.5‑liter turbo engine delivers a maximum power of 118 kW, and the vehicle uses triple lithium batteries. The claimed pure‑electric range for the extended‑range version is 250, 255, 265, 315, 320 or 335 km, indicating an increase in range compared with the current model. The powertrain of the fully electric version has also been upgraded, now offering 220 kW at the front motor and 277 kW at the rear motor.
